Double-decker hospitality with roof terrace for Stadsfestival Amersfoort

For Stadsfestival Amersfoort 2026 we supplied and built 28 folding units. With them we set up two double-decker VIP structures, with a roof terrace on the upper floor and bar units on the ground floor, complemented by separate merchandise and production spaces. The structures featured festival branding and were fully in use in the evenings.

The festival wanted a VIP experience up high, with bars that could handle the crowds on the ground floor. Space on the site was limited, so every square metre had to work double.

On top of that, the site had to be usable quickly. On a grass field with limited access routes, every transport movement counts.

We chose two double-decker structures instead of separate tents. That way the VIP experience is up on a roof terrace and we use the space below for bar units that face directly onto the audience.

The choice for folding units has a practical reason: 10 units fit on one truck. With 28 units you significantly reduce the number of transports compared to fixed construction.

The upper floor was given a full-width roof terrace with white railings and an external staircase. That separates the walking route of VIP guests from the crowds below.

The ground floor was fitted with bar units behind roller shutters, so the catering stays closed and secure before opening. We placed the separate merchandise and production spaces so that supply and audience flows do not cross.

The build took place on grass with a forklift and transport crates for the fittings. Folding units have the advantage here: they arrive folded and are unfolded and stacked on site.

One point of attention was the ground. On grass, the foundation of a double-decker structure must be level and stable, and we adjusted the framework to that before the top layer went on.

There stood 2 double-decker VIP structures with a roof terrace that was fully occupied in the evenings. The bar units on the ground floor ran under the terraces, with the festival branding clearly visible across the festival site.

Together the 28 units delivered VIP hospitality, catering and workspace on one footprint. That is exactly what a double-decker setup is meant for: more function on less ground.
