48 foldable units for paddock and hospitality hire at the MotoE in Barcelona

For the MotoE at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, WeFoldIt supplied 48 foldable units. With these we built paddock structures for the teams, a double-deck hospitality with roof terrace and views over the track, plus office and production spaces. The structures were ready on time and branded for the race weekend.

The result: a compact, functional paddock in which teams, guests and production each had their own space, all built from the same modular system.

A motorsport race weekend runs on a tight schedule with little room to manoeuvre. Everything must be standing before the teams arrive, on a site that serves as paddock, parking and helicopter platform all at once. The challenge was therefore to accommodate many different functions in a limited space, without the build delaying the weekend.

The client wanted more than just workspace. Teams needed paddock structures, guests a hospitality with views of the track, and the organisation office and production spaces. These functions differ greatly but had to come from one coherent system.

We chose 48 foldable units of 6 x 2.45 m as the basis for all functions. Because every unit has the same format, we could build paddock, hospitality and offices from the same building blocks. That makes planning, transport and construction predictable.

For the hospitality we deliberately chose a double-deck layout with roof terrace. This creates extra floor space on a small footprint and a vantage point over the straight. The stairs and terrace turn a workable unit into a place where guests experience the weekend.

The units are foldable, so ten fit on one truck. That reduces transport movements to Barcelona and shortens the build time on site. On a site where trucks and helicopters also need room, every square metre and every truck you can avoid deploying counts.

The units are fully branded with large panels, including MotoE, Michelin and partner corporate identities. This turned functional structures into visible brand carriers along the track. For teams and partners, that visibility is just as valuable as the space itself.

Because the branding is applied to the modular system, the image fits seamlessly with the shape of the units. The whole looks like a considered design, not separate containers with stickers.

With 48 foldable units, a complete paddock environment stood ready combining paddock, hospitality and production. The double-deck hospitality with roof terrace gave guests views over the track, while the teams could work undisturbed below. The modular approach kept transport and construction manageable within the tight schedule of a race weekend.
